Meet Seslie Jones

Aloha! My name is Seslie Marie Jones. I am 27 years old, And I am YOUR Miss Hawaii Plus 2024.

I was born in Charleston, South Carolina and raised on the banks of the Edisto River. I’m a country girl at heart but I always knew there was more than the world had to offer beyond the South. After marrying my husband in 2019, he joined the army, and we made our way across the country. We lived and had our first child in Texas and then were blessed to move here to Oahu where we had our second child.

Throughout my life my weight has widely fluctuated. From over 300 pounds to 160 pounds and everything in between, I know first-hand of many of the different struggles that come with low self-esteem, body dysmorphia, and lack of self-confidence. It wasn’t unit I became plus size again after the birth of my second child, my daughter, that I began my journey of self-love and acceptance. It wasn’t an easy road, however. I struggled with post-partum depression and had a hard time getting back to “Seslie”. But my daughter inspired me to become a better woman, to be nicer to myself, and to follow my dreams so I refused to give up.

Shortly after she turned 18 months, I found the Miss Hawaii Plus Organization. Having a background in pageantry I was SO excited to find one that was not only inclusive to full sized women, but to women who are married and/or mothers AND who have tattoos! I was hesitant to join and make such a big commitment for myself. I had lots of mom guilt, Unsure if I wanted to do something this big for myself. Finally, I realized I wanted both of my kids to look back one day and remember that their mom followed her dreams! That they were not a burden to my life but a reason to strive for greater!

All of that lead me here. Now I am representing not only plus size women and the state of Hawaii but mothers everywhere. Setting the example and showcasing that we are strong, beautiful, confident, and WORTHY! I’ve also began my journey into plus size modeling. Creating and holding space for bigger woman in the fashion and model industry. Showing that we are not the exception but the *standard* as over 50% of women in the US are a size 12 or greater!

I am so excited for what is to come in my reign as Miss Hawaii Plus. I am looking forward to any and all collaborations, community service, and modeling opportunities that come my way!

Mahalo Nui for learning a little about me. I hope my genuine kindness, empathy, and willingness to learn continue to shine as we move forward.

Meet Ashley Kitts

Aloha, my name is Ashley Kitts. I am 38 years old, and I am your Ms Hawai’i Plus 2024

I was born and raised in Southern California but never really felt like I fit in anywhere. Growing up, I was bullied for being chubby. It wasn't easy, but those struggles fueled me towards self-acceptance. Over time, I learned that my worth isn't defined by societal standards.

Moving to Hawaii I found my place I had never felt more myself, more in tune with who I was, more confident. Finding confidence within myself became a transformative experience. I embraced my body, recognizing its strength and beauty. In doing so, I discovered my why, and planned to become a role model for plus-size girls who, like me, once felt the weight of judgment. Setting out to change the perception of plus size women and girls I joined the Miss Hawaii Plus pageant!

Entering the pageant world was a leap of faith, unsure of what lay ahead. Yet, what awaited was beyond my wildest dreams: Fun, excitement, and a surge of confidence like never before. Along the way, I gained invaluable knowledge and discovered a sisterhood that uplifted and empowered me.Now, I stand tall proving that confidence is a powerful shield against negativity. I want every plus-size girl to know that they're worthy, capable, and deserving of respect.

After being crowned Ms Hawaii plus 2024 I plan to continue to spread body positivity and seek partnerships with youth organizations to inspire young girls everywhere. I am thrilled to be able reach the vibrant communities of Hawaii, celebrating diversity, and embracing women of all shapes and sizes. From the shores of Waikiki to the peaks of Mauna Kea, let's come together, uplift each other, and spread love and positivity across the islands!
